We are LIVE on Base Testnet!

All users who signed up for the Ethos waitlist are now able to accept their invite on ethos.network to begin onboarding. You will need to connect the wallet submitted when you signed up for the waitlist. You can check if your wallet is on the list here.

Missed the waitlist? We will be adding people to the testnet experience later, so please sign up for the standby waitlist.

As next steps, we recommend you download the Ethos Chrome extension to see credibility scores populate on Twitter, and join our Discord to partake in the Ethos community.

What do YOU need to know?

1. Please help us in thoroughly testing the product by completing all the testnet tasks listed on the homepage.

Completing the testnet tasks -- while retaining a 1200 Ethos score when mainnet launches -- will earn you an ✨ Ethos Testnet Sticker Pack ✨ which has absolutely zero intrinsic value, but will be an NFT airdropped to you once mainnet starts. The sticker pack will be able to be displayed on your Ethos profile page for others to admire.

2. We are treating this as real data. We want you to vouch for people you believe in and write real reviews.

This helps us learn the most about how credibility scores will work in mainnet. Upon mainnet launch, we will have a way to easily migrate all of your reviews and data from testnet to mainnet, so all of your hard work contributing to Ethos will carry over. For a refresher on reviews and vouching, check out this blog post

3. This is your best opportunity to partake in Ethos and learn the product before the mainnet launch.

Mainnet will launch with just 100 users, each given only one exclusive invite to share. Since inviting is our main control for keeping Ethos safe and secure early on, invitations will be limited until we build confidence our “trust network” is working.

4. Strong community members will have a chance to be a part of the initial 100 users.

Right now we have close to 75 of the initial users accounted for, made up of our investors and early believers. Users who participate in the community, help identify bugs, voice their opinion or dissent, and write about Ethos publicly will be acknowledged and rewarded accordingly – ideally with an invite upon launch.

5. We are going to break shit.

The database might blow up. Our credit card is probably going to get maxed out when we run out of AWS credits. You will probably be yelling at us on Intercom about how shitty mobile support is. Let’s break shit together – this is how we learn and build the best possible product.

6. You will start out with 0 invitations to Ethos.

We will add invitations to your wallet in testnet at a later date. Trust me, we want your friends (not your sybil accounts tho) on Ethos as well.

What are we trying to learn from Testnet?

This is the first time we’ve been able to share our thesis for Ethos and onchain credibility publicly as a product, and we’re excited to learn exactly how our users get value from Ethos.

While we’re interested in making sure parts of the product like the onboarding, commenting, and upvoting are user-friendly and working, we are most interested in learning about how credibility scores work. We’ve taken a very primitive approach to our first credibility score calculation and want to see how users:

  • Behave with reviews, vouches, upvotes and downvotes
  • Think about inviting users and the bonding period
  • Value or don’t value their credibility score as a potential “social currency”

We want to learn from you. Hypotheses are meant to be broken, early products are meant to be rapidly iterated on. We get the most value from hearing from you giving us feedback, talking through complex ideas with us, and voicing what matters most to you. So please, give us the feedback, yell at us when the credibility scores are wrong, and ideate on how we could make it better in our Discord community or on our Twitter.

What’s next?

We march towards a mainnet launch. We have already started the work on this, mostly smart contract auditing and, of course, learning how people use the product. 😅

If you weren’t on the waitlist, read this far, and want to try the product out today, DM me on Twitter @ethos_network and I’ll hook you up. 🤜 🤛
